Ok, so most people probably listen to this song and think, "she's a whore, he's a whore. Let's go get a pumpkin shake* from Jack in the Box." But I'm about to tell you why this is actually kind of a star-crossed love song. Lyrics!

Timbaland says:

That feelin’ that you givin’ really drives me crazy
You don’t have ta play about the joke
I was at a loss of words first time that we spoke

So we know right away there's an attraction. Makes sense, she's a pretty girl. Nothing overtly sexual yet. In fact, he comments on the fact he was impressed the first time they spoke. So she's got a brain to go with her looks. Good for her! And good for him for noticing!

Timbaland says:
I be the first to admit it, I’m curious about you, you seem so innocent

Nelly says:
You wanna get in my world, get lost in it?
Boy I’m tired of running, lets walk for a minute

I interpret Timbaland's line as him wondering why she's chosen to live the lifestyle for which the song is titled. She doesn't seem like a whore, so what gives? Fair question I guess, but perhaps a little forward at this stage in their relationship. And her line gives us a glimmer of hope that she might want something more...

Timbaland:
Promiscuous girl

And it's you that I want

You could read this as horny. I read it as emotionally lonely and he sees a chance for a real relationship here.

Nelly:
Promiscuous boy
You already know
That I’m all yours
What you waiting for?

This is where it gets sad. She thinks he's after sex. She wants to know why he won't just come out and say it. Because he loves you, Nelly! You're worth more than just sex!

Timbaland:
You're teasing me
You know what I want
And I got what you need

More sad. He can't tell if she's interested in more than just sex. When he says he has what she needs, he's talking about friendship, not lights on boning.

Timbaland:
I want you on my team

Nelly:
So does everybody else

You don't understand what he means! He wants to be a team with you, as in a couple.

Timbaland:

This is him saying he likes her so much he doesn't care if they keep things a secret. He just wants to be closer to her. If her reputation is important to her, he won't let their exclusivity ruin it. And the "place" he's referring to is probably a coffee shop where her friends won't see her.

Nelly:

And they leave what happens as a mystery. Did they finally get on the same page? Is there still a miscommunication about what each person wants? I like to think they figured it our and are happily in love or are at least having coffee somewhere, awkwardly telling each other what they do for a living.

*So goddamn good, but it needs more pumpkin.
